Dead DR 650 Camshaft... HELP !!!!!

DOH.... My faithful Dr has decided it needs a rest...

Am currently in Kuala Lumpur with a very rattly Dr650. On closer inspection the bike has chewed up the Camshaft and Exhaust cam follower.

As you can imagine im struggling to get the parts here in Malaysia, so im putting out this SOS to see if anyone can help. Even some advice would be cool.

Its a 2005 K5 Australian bike with 62000kms on it.Most of these kms have been thru outback Australia and Indonesia.

Ive changed the oil every 5000 kms (will change it more often in future) and has been great up until now.

Must mention Sunny Cycle motorbike shop in KL... they have the bike at the moment and have been fantastic....if you are over this way check them out. Sunny is a top bloke and good mechanic.

Okay guys over to you, any pearls of wisdom or parts to repair the bike would be appreciated.

Tim

Ok,
How are they sending out the parts?

Check the local agent (DHL/FED ex) ... look them up in the local phone book) - pay them a visit and ask about motorcycle bits coming in from the USA - any customs fees, ohter fees? This way you get to know where they are .. and if your going to pay more.

Good luck ..

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
