Question Bike Mods

I have purchased a DL 650 wee strom, (and Love It), but need advice on a couple of things as this bike is going to take my wife and I RTW. Seats standard hurts my *#@* after a couple of hours, so do I go Sargent or Corbin. (Keep in mind the Sherrif on the back) GPS unit ? as I am from OZ of have read someone saying we have good Shocks here or what is recommended, Panniers the bike came with Givi Keyless, but I think I will opt
for either Jesse or Happy Trails ? One more think this may be directed to my fellow countrymen I am riding up to Bamaga (tip of OZ) in Sept. what Tyres ?
Thanks
Paul

Jesse boxes are great, but quite expensive. Why not Andy Strapz or Wolfman? Soft bags have a lot of advantages. Check this thread:

Patrick, thanks for the info, I read about a bloke who had Givi panniers and at his first fall they started to leak water (when it rained) and then he had another buster and then he could not get them to close again, however I do like them and they fit alot in them and as the saying goes one swallow does not make a summer, I may keep them a while, I also have a Triumph Bonny and thought I would put them on that. Some more thinking is needed, I notice you bash plate how is that made and fixed, does it work ? My first trip on the Strom will be out to Ayre's Rock about 3000k from where I am, this will be in Aug. Then we are doing a training run to Bamaga, lots of sand, mud, creeks & corrugations. Next Oct we fly the bikes to London and ride to Cape Town (East Side) and then ship them off to Sth America.
I know you have ridden alot in the desert over there so you may have some advice re-bash plates etc.

thanks
paul

The Givi's you see in the pic were brand new at that time in 2002, so was the bike.

Check Stromtrooper.com - Powered by vBulletin for more info on setting up your bike.
The first thing to get is engine guards, they can be a major savings off road and these sidestands are murder for digging into soft pavement and dropping the bike.
I bought mine right after I repainted the plastics.

Skidplate, handguards, etc. wait their turn.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
