Aftermarket Panniers for new 2014 V-strom 1000

Does anybody know when there will be some aftermarket side racks and bags for the new 2014 DL 1000's. I really don't like the ones Suzuki provides on the adv model and don't want to purchase the new V-strom until there are some options out there.

It wont be long before the 'usual' companies come out with a luggage system, I'm surprised Touratech haven't got one sorted out yet.

Its worth filling in your location on your profile so we know which market you are buying parts in.

I have some from SW Motech and am very pleased with them apart from the fact that you can't mount the water bottles or fuel tank on the rear of them as there is not enough room. However, having said that I have not had any issues with stones coming off the tyres and puncturing them as yet!!

Although to be fair you don't have to have them on. It was an extra.

Looks like GIVI, Shad, and SW-Motech are all making side cases for the new V-Strom. Problem with all of them, IMO, is how far outboard they sit, with big gaps between bags and bike's bodywork.

At least the OEM Suzuki bags tuck in nice and tight to the side of the bike, look more suited to the bike and not as wide.

Shad bags:

Photos shot from the rear are the only real way to see this. This was the only one I found. None of the other companies dare reveal this, but Webbikeworld are a good outfit. (they did a review of the Shad bags)

These bags sit a bit closer in than both SW-Motec and GIVI ... and are quite a bit cheaper as well. The SW Motech are stunningly expensive, IMO.

But none of these aftermarket bags sit as close in as the OEM Suzuki bags. These companies leave these huge gaps because they make ONE SIZE FITS ALL luggage cases and racks to fit dozens of different bikes
So this is what you get. Crap, IMO, so they can make a profit.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
