Acerbis handguards on a DRZ400S - problem!

hi there, thought I'd just get on and fit my acerbis handguards to my DRZ400s but have come a bit unstuck as the expanding bolts that are supposed to fit into the end of the throttle are too fat to fit. does anyone have any experience of this and what I can do to make it work? thanks

You bought the wrong fitting kit ??

You either need smaller diameter plugs or different bars..

Which one is the cheaper is going to be a lottery.....

ORRRRR !! Have you checked to see that you've removed all of the bar end weight ??

I had this problem on one of my bikes and just drilled a larger diameter hole so they fitted, all it cost me was a drill bit from screw fix.

Fab thank you - yes the handguards are supposed to be universal fit which the guards themselves are in terms of their size, the issue it turns out is just the fixing bolts!

Not to sound too much of an imbecile, but with the drilling out suggestion - sounds like a good idea but what is the throttle shaft made of and so what kind of bit to use? Bit nervous of drilling into my bike and breaking the throttle somehow (terrible excuse but...I am female!)

Thanks! Claire

I wouldn't try to ream out the end of my handlebars.

Are your bars the original steel bars ? 7/8" Alloy (Renthall) ? or fatbars ?

Identify what you have and buy the right kit

do the fixing plugs, expanding bit have plastic round them? If so cut it off?
