1981 Suzuki TS185 Mikuni Carb Question
You guys have been a great help - After 1 hour of mallet work I got my clutch Engine cover off. I have the new Barnett plates soaking in oil now. The original friction plates are toast! I plan on using a scotch brite pad to clean up the metal plates a little.
I had a problem with cold starts and was advised by this forum to clean the choke circuit. It has the 2in choke tab that connects to the choke "plunger" that is held to the carb by a screw and it floats on a small ball bearing at the bottom of it (Between the choke and the carb). I removed this and it didn't seem dirty and I was able to pass air thru the choke while the plunger was out. I plan on soaking the carb for a few hours with the float bowl removed, the choke removed and the top screw on cap removed. I pulled the main jet and it looks fine. The pilot jet I'll remove tomorrow when I soak the carb. Any other suggestions? Thanks for all your help! Last edited by Ti-Carbo; 25 Apr 2010 at 01:06. |
