1972 ts185?s
 

I believe I just bought a 1972 TS185. Somewhere through it's life the lights and everything was removed from the body. I'm using it mostly as a dirtbike, so that's no worries. What is a concern is the gear box lube. How much oil should be used? Is 20w40 a good choice? Also it seems that the previous owners removed the oil injection system. Maybe I can get a used one somewhere and install that at a later time?

Any suggestions on adjusting the carb?

Finally, the gearbox drain plug is stripped. Can I retap it to a larger size without too much harm? It currently seals, but doesn't tighten up, so I'm not that concerned.

I restored one from a salvage yard. Runs great
 

My TS185 is a 1974 and is running 30W oil in the crankcase. To fill to the correct level: take out the small bolt (has a phillips slot) on the forward righthand case. Add oil to the engine. When the oil starts to drain out the forward bolt hole the level is correct. Replace bolt. I pulled my oil injection pump and pre-mix the oil/fuel at 32:1. It runs fine on this but smokes a slightly. Tapping the drain plug hole is very possible. Find a buddy with the tools up and go for it!

I have a 84 ts185 im running it on 40:1 premix... and i also have a problem its really hard to start but when it warms up it start's 1st kik i tryed a comp test got 140 psi (seems good) and when i put a bit of fuel in the Venturi it starts 1st kik so it seems to be a fuel problem to me so i have new neddle and seat,float,sparkplug,fuel line + inline filter

Don't run on pre-mix!!!
 

The Suzuki TS range, like most Suzuki two-strokes uses their CCI system. Unlike most two-strokes, you CAN'T run premix for any length of time without destroying the left side crank bearings and the big end bearings. These are feed by the oil pump directly, making the Suzuki cranks very strong and with a long life. Serious modification is needed before you can run pre-mix.

TS 185 Injector pump
 

im only usin pre-mix because my injector pump wasn't working but today i pulled my TS apart and had a look at the pump and found tht the oil inlet bajo was loose and leaking so i tightend her up and i want to know how to check if the pump is working or not and how to adjust it.
