17" front wheel on a Dr 650
 

Has anyone had any experiance reducing the diameter of the front wheel to 17" on the DR 650 in order lower the bike even more and if so where can you get a smaller rim to fit the Dr 650.

Putting a 17" rim on is a standard Motard mod, so you can run sticky road tyres. There are plenty of companies making rims to be laced up. Any half decent bike accessories shop will be able to point you at a pile. Are there any shops like that in Calgary?

Being in North America I would strongly recommend ProCycle for most of your DR specific needs, including 17" rims, spokes etc.

The owner Jeff is great to deal with and rides a DR with 17" wheels (although tall tires) himself:
