West to East possible again
 

Just made it through to Kampala having left Chad 2 weeks ago. With travel permits now available for Southern Sudan as the peace talks continue and eastern CAR tough but passable in the dry the way across is effectively open again. Details to follow soon on www.mobilemedics.org.uk

good stuff! I look forward to reading more later. I'll be riding the other way later this year and we'd be planning to go through Sudan to Chad, but the border is still closed, right? so Uganda, Sudan, CAR, Chad might be an alternative. did you have to wait long for visas? are you on UK passports?

Yes we're all travelling on UK passports. Got our Chad visas in Niger, CAR visas in Chad, S Sudan permits sent to us from SPLM/SRRC (southern sudanese authorities) office in Nairobi and Uganda visas on the border. Might be tricky getting Chad and CAR visas coming north to south but probably possible.
