WD-40 available in Ghana?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get WD-40 in Ghana (Accra or surrounding)?

Hi Steffi,

Mind you, I haven't ever been to Accra. There are many substitutes for WD-40. Checking the web on Ghana aerosol lubricants I see the following page:

Prolong super lubricants Ghana

Scrolling down the above product page I see Prolong SPL-100 aerosol penetrating lubricant is produced in Ghana and should be available somewhere in Accra at an auto parts bazaar shop.

The WD in WD-40 stands for water dispersant. It was originally designed to disperse water and protect metal moving parts since oil and water don't mix. There are many other products on the market that do the job equally well. PJ-40 comes to mind.

The Prolong SPL-100 aerosol penetrating lube that is produced by a Ghanian company looks the part though. That would be what I would try, failing to find WD-40. While I love the smell of WD-40 and fancy it as adventure rider cologne (just kidding), it is not the be-all end-all of penetrating lubricants. Brand name automotive products that you recognize can be impossible to find in many third world countries I have been to.

Hope this helps.

Try the Shoprite Supermarket in the new fancy shopping mall on the outskirts of down. Expect it to be frigging expensive. Have a look at what the local mechanics use (a bigger hammer most likely!)

Hi,

you need to ask for ABRO. A blue can with yelow print and a red lid. Looks pretty much like WD40. Some of the little roadside sparepart shacks sell it for plus minus 5 Cedis.

regards
Bernd

Ive just seen Q20 at Game in the Accra mall. Q20 is a similar product used mainly in southern Africa.
