Visa from SA into Namibia?

I will be riding a rented bike from SA into Namibia. I will need to get Visa at border post? What currency is needed to pay for the Visa?
I have letter of authority to take the machine into Namibia, also hold airline tickets for journey back home to Australia.
Any potential problems I need to consider?
Thanks!

you dont need to get a visa before you go into Namibia, they give you a stamp at the border.
you will have to pay a road tax/permission which you must not loose as you will need it at your exit point.
South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland are all in a common trade zone so you dont need anything special like a carnet to get your bike through there.
The currency in Namibia is the Nam Dollar which is one to one with the rand.
Us dollars or Rand will work fine for you in Botswana if you go there but Nam dollars wont.

Let me know if you need any other help

G'day mate,

basically it's no problem to get a visa at the NAM border if you've got your onward flight ticket.

Best would be NAM $, but they accept SA Rand as well, which is 1 Rand to 1 NAM $. In most places I found they accept SA Rand, but to get NAM $ with a foreign bank card is a hassle at times. The small ATMs at fuel stations don't accept them, only ATMs at banks take foreign cards.

Enjoy the country!

When we drive a borrowed Botswana registered car into other SADC countries, such as Namibia, we have to first get the letter of authority stamped by the police in Gaborone. I'm not sure if that applies to borrowed vehicles coming from SA.

The rental company gave me a letter of permission for the entry, however due to circumstances, our trip route changed, but its definitely on the agenda for the next visit, hopefully 03/08 :-)
