Victoria Falls Zambia or Zimbabwe?
Hello,

We would like to get some info about the Victoria falls, we don't know where to visit!

At the moment we're in Zambia and the end of November we will be in Zimbabwe.

At the moment there are many tourists at the falls here in Zambia, in November there of course will be less.
We got told that doesn't matter the season, that on the Zimbabwe site the falls are always good?

Which site is more beautifull?

We wanted to go to the devil pool, but it's closed at the moment, there is still the angel pool at the Zambian site?

Are there also pools at the Zimbabwe site?
We heard something about luna rainbow....?

We just don't know and we would much appreciate your opinion about visiting the falls

Don't recall seeing any pools on the Zim side (I may be wrong, but we did walk pretty much all the marked trails), but I would say that the best views are probably from the Zimbabwe side because you are looking at the falls which go over on the Zam side.

Although the falls are not as full late in the year (we were there in December) you can at least see something through the mist.

Also, on the Zim side is the Vic Falls hotel which is a lovely place to have lunch.

If you have to opportunity do both , they offer different experiences of a natural wonder that is to beautiful for words.

Was just there. Can't speak to the Zim side, but it's a small matter to get a visa to cross the bridge and see both sides. The Zim side looked less fenced, so you can better enjoy the slippery precipice from there if you prefer. Personally I had no regrets just seeing the Zam side and couldn't quite understand the allure of seeing both.

The water's still too high to dip into Devils Pool but you can still get into Angels Pool. To do so you'll have to sign up for an excursion to Livingstone Island, offered by the Livingstone(?) Hotel but arranged through just about any hotel or backpackers in town. Try for high tea -- the water is rather cold and the afternoon sun will be nice, plus you get to stay for longer. I highly recommend it. I'm not aware that any pool can be accessed via the Zim side.

The luna rainbow or whatever supposedly shows up at full moon. For those three nights the park stays open 24h and you can see a rainbow by the light of the moon. Sounds fun.

There are a million other excursions you can do too. Vic Falls will take your money faster than a game of three card monte. Watch out for the baboons too. They will beat you and take your food. Have a good time!

I only did the Zambian side, that was fine for me as I don't have a multiple entry for Zambia.


75 US (50 visa + 25 parc fee) was a bit much just to see the falls from a different angle


tip if you want to do lunar moon thing: they supposedly kick you out at 18h00 if you are a day visitor and then you need to pay again (but more: 25 in stead of 20US) for the night experience (18h - 22h).
I don't see why you just can't do a small picknick around 18h00 a bit out of sight and stay in the parc (no need to pay twice!)


Lunar moon was ok, but not a life changing experience though...
