Vehicle shipping from Ghana to UK

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of shipping a vehicle (LR 110) from Ghana to the UK at all?

I'm hoping to follow the prime meridian from the UK to Ghana and it would be great if I can ship the vehicle back to the UK once I reach Ghana instead of having to drive back up.

Depending on the hassles involved I'd be willing to travel to Cote d'Ivoire, Togo or Benin if shipping from Ghana is a no go.

Any info would be great!!

Suggest you contact Grimaldi Lines at Tilbury. Can't remember where they stop before Dakar but it's on their website.

Thanks, their website's a bit of a nightmare to make sense of, seems to be set up mainly for business to business shipping, sent an email to the only contact address I could find on there.

Yep it's a bit complicated isn't it! They do do ro-ro vehicle shipping (I shipped my truck back from Dakar). Suggest you call them on +44 20 7930 5683 and you'll end up being put through to the right person with the info you need. My firm advice would be to fix it all up before you go; it's so much easier and less stressful.

Thanks for the help Quintin, I got in touch with the Tilbury office of Grimaldo Lines in the UK.

They have a weekly departure from Tema, Ghana to Tilbury, with a sailing time of around 15 days. They can ship the vehicle 'as is' easily but the rep suggested using a 20' container for added security, which comes out at around the same price.

As a guide, £1200 should cover shipping a fully laden Land Rover 110 double cab back to the UK.
