Uk-uganda

Can anyone advise me on the best do-able route to Uganda? a number of questions I would like answered please plus any other information would be appreciated. Which route would you take, like, where in Europe would you cross to North africa?. A quick glance at a world map appears to give 3 options of African route; 1) Egypt/sudan/Uganda, 2) Libya/Sudan/Uganda, 3) Libya/Chad/CAR/Zaire/Uganda.
What is the best time of year to make the trip? What sort of time span or pref mileage? Paperwork? I am a UK passport holder.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Heading from Sudan directly into Uganda is not the standard route, although may well be possible provided the relatively fragile peace in southern Sudan holds. Similarly given the continued uncertainty about the whereabouts of Joseph Kony and the LRA, the DRC / Ugandan border area is probably not the best place to be at the moment. There have also been a number of attacks on aid agencies (including WFP trucks) on this transit corridor.

You would also need to check whether there will be any issue getting permits to travel in Southern Sudan.

The traditional route is Egypt-Sudan-Ethiopia-Kenya-Uganda. There are plenty of posts on this in the Sub Saharan section.
