Uganda visa on land border crossing?

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get an Uganda visa on arrival at the Kenya / Uganda border crossing?

We have UK passport and SA passport in the group.

Looks like it takes a couple of hours in Nairobi, but want to save spending an extra day in Nairobi.

Regards,
Fred

I got one at border last month on South African passport for $50.Very quick and easy.Believe it is same for UK. NB you need Ugandan currency to pay for road tax.
2 good campsites....The Haven at Jinja and Lockwabo rock near Lake Mburo.
Are you going to Rwanda ?

Hi Atlas. Thank you for the reply. Which crossing did you use to cross into Uganda? We will cross from Kenya, but return after a few days to go down to Tanzania.

I've used Malaba and Suam a couple of years ago now and both were straight forward with UK and Aus passports. When we crossed at Malaba there was a huge line of local trucks waiting, but you can go to the front of the queue.

If you've got time Uganda is worth more than just a few days and Rwanda is really worth visiting too.

In case you are not already aware, if you are only going to Uganda (but not Rwanda), then you don't need a new visa for Kenya on your return provided the original Kenyan visa is still valid.
