Trouble in Guinea-Bissau

BBC NEWS | World | Africa | Guinea-Bissau president 'killed'

TT-Kira 2 Mar 2009 11:31

It's got nasty since my first message on the Travellers Advisory branch.

Just heard from my friend who flew there on Saturday, he's fine thankfully & out of Bissau. Says it's all quiet out in the country ...

Can't see things getting any better, with both Nino & the head of the army dead - where will it end?

All fine ...

Just had a call from the friend who is there (his 2nd time)

Nothing has changed, everyone is going about life as normal, people are calm, the roadblocks are no different, life continues ...

Downside, he's too early for cashew wine!!!

Guinea-Bissau

No problems in Guinea-Bissau at present, I've been working in country for 16 months now, travelling around on my BMW 650 Dakar with the Blue BMW style jacket... done over 7000 miles up and down senegal, mali, guinea connakary and guinea-bissau.

Even when the problem that occured happened, their was no real stress. Visas for Guinea are possible overnight for 40,000 CFA for multi entry, but better to get them in Banjul apparently as they are a lot cheaper. The main concern is petrol which can be a bit difficult to find at times from the petrol stations but normally available with a little bit of asking around.

Just a situation update, sorry i was a bit slow on adding to the information.
