There are plenty of backpackers auberges in Bamako, I stayed twice in French run auberge Djamilla, South side of the river, out of the centre. A very nice little place with good internet.
But I´m sure anywhere you ask, it won´t be a problem.

I can recommend Kaira-So Camping (Camping Kaira-So :: Accueil). It's not really a fully-fledged camping site, but rather the private compound of French-Malian host Jean, who has a Transalp himself, if I remember correctly, and who's just a great guy all around. It's big, they have a wall around the property, and he offers long-term storage too. He can help you with customs as well.

Check out these Italians I met there in spring 2010 (BndBiker - Bambini nel Deserto ONG ONLUS). They left their Dommies in Bamako and just returned for the second leg of their journey.

I agree with Piffe, sleeping camel (near of the river, front of the Egyp embassy if I remember well) is your option. The owner (Bill) its a great guy.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
