TIP's in West Africa

We are planning to drive from Capre Town to London, and as we have been in OZ for 6 months our carnet is going to run out in West Arfica. Can you use TIP's in West Africa and is it easy to do? Or would it be better to get the carnet extended?

Most countries issue 'Laisez passer'. Less convenient then a carnet.

There might be some requiring a carnet, and on your way south, there might be some expecting a carnet just because tourist passing before you used a carnet.

Thanks for that - it was maily the countires on the north of the west that I was worried about - Congo and north from there - do you think it would be easier to extend the carnet?
