How long to DHL small spares to Niarobi from UK ??? Any Idea ??

Im in need of a few spares from the UK... Im hoping to have them sent by DHL !!

Anyone got experience of this ??? Only a small parcel under 5kg in weight.

Any idea of cost too ?? recommendations ??

I've never shipped parts to Nairobi because I bought my filters from a very nice gentleman at the BMW-dealer (Junglejunction-Chris).

But I got a tire send (from Norway) with the ordinary post-system (poste restante). It took a week but be aware that packets doesn't necessarily end up at the main post-office like letters do. Bring your carnet.
I have shipped films from Nairobi to Norway, took three days.

The more you want to pay the quicker it gets there, but the service to Nairobi is generally good. I had documents sent from UK. Cost 30GBP for the 5 day service, posted on a Thursday in Yorkshire and in my hand in Nairobi Monday morning. Problem with spares could be getting them out of the airport though. Customs will want some cash from you, seems to be negotiable though. Maybe easier to see if you can buy the spares in Nairobi?

Well, Its only a front sprocket and a GPS power lead.

The sprocket I need is a custom size and I dont think they will have garmin power leads in Niarobi for my old 2610 !!

It might be possible to send the sprocket and the lead as a letter.
I've received numerous letters in Africa and the customs have never cared what's inside, it speeds up the process.

We met some guys who had a part stuck in customs for two weeks becasue it had a listed zero value...

My advice would be to have it marked as $5 value and DHL should take two days and cost £30.

I would echo the above comments and use the post office. I got stuff sent to Nairobi this way no problem. My experience (in S America: Chapter 17 The Big Trip ) with DHL is that they are the biggest bunch of "£%$% sucking tossers bar none.

Righto... I'll send it via the good old post office / Royal mail..

It should only be a very small parcel !!

I also have terrible experiences with DHL and that just domestic.. ill see what the post office say !
