Hi Omar, I think this is pretty easy. I'll be in Juba tomorrow (for work arriving by plane.. shame!) and will ask for additional details, but from previous trips there I remember hearing this did not pose any difficulty. Let me get back to you when I'm out of the bush and regain an internet connection.

Hi.

I travelled from Uganda to South Sudan 3 weeks ago.
Tororo-Mbale-Soroti - tarmac road, some potholes
Soroti-Lira-Atura - good tarmac road
Atura to Gulu - tarmac road

From Gulu to Nimule - gravel road, lot of potholes.

Fuel stations are in every city. Fuel 3500, diezel 3280 - 3300 UGS per litre

In Sudanese side - after border crossing are normal gravel road to Juba. Some parts are better, the reconstruction is in process.

And the road from Kampala to Atura is also good tarmac road.

Immigration in border: GPS N03 34.341 E032.04.475
South Sudan Travel permit cost was 50 USD + 10 SDP for registration.
An they need 2 photos, one for application and second for permit.

Hi PaulD.
Very difficult to find a camping place, they most places don't allowed to sleep in car (Oasis camp, Habesha Continental Hotel..).
I stayed in Nile Resort Hotel parking place. N04 50.054 E031 36.871 (+249 955 380 620)

In Nimule I stayed in New Generation Lodge, N03 35.423 E032 04.098, first tourist this year:)

Some GPS points
Immigration in Juba N04 50.470 E031 35.845
KCB ATM N04 50.330 E031 36.375 (It was out of order, when I was there)

Nice country and nice people.
I am now in Entebbe.

Juba Accomodation

Go and see Andy at Beduines hotel, if he is not in Nairobi. He might strike you a deal to stay in the car park, but beware of the noisy club next door and drunken patrons leaving in the late hours. Juba is ridiculously expensive for what it is. I just left South Sudan after a long contract, sorry!

Hi,
Any of you guys know if its possible to pass from South Sudan into Ethiopia? Were on motorbikes f650s. I can see theres a river to cross on google earth and not sure if it will be flowing. Any help on this Qu would be good.. we paln to be there in a couple of weeks.

You can definitely cross from Juba via Nadapal, Lokichoggio (Kenya) and the Ilemi Triangle to Omorate. See our trip report here: Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to Juba (South Sudan) - Gentleman Adventurer

From all I heard during our trip, it is also possible to drive directly from South Sudan to Ethiopia via Gambela.

Security may be an issue.
