Senegal carnet

driving from Sierra Leone in a Sierra Leone registered Land Rover where they have never heard of a carnet, how are we going to get through Senegal? We only want to spend about 4 days on our way north to Mauritania? Are there any options? do we have to get one....if yes, HOW?

The West African countries are unified in an economic community. And therefore, with a car immatriculated in one of these countries you can enter an other country without problems. At the border you will get a "laisser passer" which allows you, to enter with your car. I know this systheme from other west african countries, and between Sierra Leone and Senegal it should be the same procedere.
To confirm this information, you could ask truck driver, who are travelling from the port goods outside the country or just phone the british or any other embassy. They should know the regulations. kuno
