Safe travel in Zimbabwe?
 

I'm waiting for my UK registered Defender to arrive by ship from The Gambia (I'm in Cape Town right now).

I would like to go through Zimbabwe to see my Father but I've been told that to travel through Zim with a UK registered vehicle will be a problem because of the Zim Government's 'problem' with Mr Blair.

Is this so? Has anyone taken a UK registered vehicle through Zim recently? I'm worried that we'll be stopped at every road block and be taken as a British 'spy' or journalist.

On top of this there is the fuel shortage, but hopefully our long range tanks will give us enough fuel for the trip.

Any recent information will be appreciated.

By the way our final destination will be Uganda where we lived for two years.

speaking to friends of mine in Zim and Zambia recently, they felt it was unsafe for UK reg'd vehicles and recommended traveling via Botswana.
