Road conditions from Tanga to Dar es Salaam along the coast
 

Currently we are in Arusha, planning our route down to Dar es Salaam. In order to avoid the main roads, we would like to cycle via secondary roads down the coast from Tanga, via Pangani, Saadani Nat Park, Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam. However, it is rainy season now and I have no idea what the quality of the roads are during this time of the year. If you have information about this route, it would be more than welcome!

Last I heard at the end of 2011 there was a bridge washed out so you couldn't make it all the way along the coast.

I did what could be done, it was quite rough with plenty of smaller bridges that could be washed away. Ask truck and minivan drivers as you go...
