Cabinda - Matadi

Hi, I've only been from Cabinda to Matadi and from there into Angola.

Two years ago, If I recall well, the road from point noir to the border was good. I've got charged 5 or 10 dollars by I don't know what health administration for another stamp that states no cholera vacination is required, because my stamp was more then 6months old... . Don't hand over your documents at the health police there (customs and police where very nice! We got bottled watter from the police and friendly and stuf...)

Cabinda side was a bit more chaotic. but no probs.

Then, at least part of the road to cabinda was potholes with tar. no technical difficulties, but it's a bumpy ride.

from cabinda/DRC border to Muanda, there's a very well maintained dirt road (oil companies taking care of that road). From Muanda to Boma it's rough going. It's ok when dry, but as soon as it gets whet you'll spend quite some time getting unstuck. From Boma to Matadi there's a paved road in good condition. You have to pay to cross the bridge over the congo, don't remember how much, and then I guess you'll have to talk yourself trough the check point when leaving Matadi.

Succes,

Rob

Matadi to Kinshasa

We travelled the Pointe Noire via Cabinda to Matadi. We 'only' managed to wait 1 week for our single entry visa for Cabinda.
Border formalities were straight forward however DRC insisted in doing an underarm temperature test to check if we had Ebola virus. This was also the only country were we needed to show our Yellow fever certificate.

We travelled with three Italians who flew in an ex Russian Antinov from Point N. to Brazzaville (US$900 with car). They then took the ferry to Kinshasa and mentioned the road from Kinshasa to Matadi was good.

Enjoy!
