Petrol available on Ethiopia - Kenya Road?
 

Hi all,

I'm in Addis Ababa, riding a KTM 640 Adventurer, and will be heading south to Kenya on the Moyale - Isiolo road in a few weeks. The range of my bike won't make it to Isiolo (or Archer's post) without needing to refuel. Does anyone know if there is fuel available on the way (perhaps in Marsabit?).

there should be fuel at the (shell??) filling station in marsabit. if they don't have, try to buy from one of the backyard guys selling out of drums (if they have and you're prepared to pay extra)
nobody i spoke to on my trip had any problems with getting petrol in marsabit - they always had.

I filled up twice in Marsabit. Even if the Shell filling station is dry you should not have a problem to find fuel in one of the small shops around.

On the way south from Addis there was fuel at Yavello, Moyale, Marsabit & Isiolo. With a 28 litre tank you will have no problems.

Thanks for the info guys, good to know I don't need to strap on the extra weight of a gerrycan of fuel. I just hope I don't need a bullet-proof suit!
