Overland travel from South Africa to Europe
I travel with wife around the world by car Toyota 4 Runner ( www.ravbar.t-media.si/en). We shipped the car to Durban (South Africa)and heading north. Which overland route is possible at the moment? Or through Kenya - (after Uganda or Ethiopia) than Sudan after (Egypt via ferry or CAR - Chad much longer route)
Or through Angola-D.R.C.-Congo-Gabon-Cameroon in rainy season...
Best regards Uros

Depends in part whether you want to go to West Africa. The East coast route is still okay going up through Kenya - Ethiopia - Sudan - Egypt - Jordan or alternatively Sudan - Saudi Arabia (On a three day transit visa) Jordan. If you want to go to West Africa then the West Coast is probably your best option. All the routes to cross from Kenya / Ethiopia / Sudan going west are quite dangerous at present and will be difficult to be allowed through. Good luck.

West coast route is possible. In some cases visas are hard to get. We did it last year in the rainy season and had no trouble with roads (3x LR D110, 1xLC 78, 1x Pinz 6x6). You can cross the Congo river at Matadi over a bridge. Only question is if Cabinda is okay or if you must go to Brazza-Kinshasa. We did Cabinda but it was a bit tense. From Gabon north it is easy.
cheers

Hi Toby2, is it possible to take a bike accross to Saudi from Sudan and transit through to Jordan?? What are the costs involved? I kinda want to skip Egypt as the carnet price is quite high, plus I have been there before.
Cheers
