One way adventure...

I'm posting this on behalf another traveler who entered into a "buy-back" deal in SA. He will be leaving Kenya soon but the vehicle needs to be back in Cape Town by the 10th of December. If anyone is interested in flying up and returning the vehicle to SA then please contact me off list and I'll send you his details.

He will provide fully comp insurance with R6000 minimum excess (up to 17% for 3rd party). This is provided by Consult Insurance of RSA. The driver would be responsible for insurance excess according to Consult terms and conditions.
Reimbursement of fuel costs up to around 6000km (around R8500) on safe receipt of vehicle in Cape Town and he will cover cost for any mechanical failures (within reason) that occur during the return journey (the scope of this will be agreed prior to the journey).

From the guy in Kenya:

[Q]The car is a white 1995 Toyota Hilux double cab. 2.4l Petrol with free wheeling front hubs. It's suspension is slightly raised. The vehicle is tidy and in good condition. It is mechanically maintained by Twende. I had it serviced fully in Llongwe, Malawi, 10,000 km since Cape Town. (Twende require a major service every 10,000km and all receipts). I have also replaced the plug leads and welded the exhaust since. We have done around 3,000 km since then, and I consider it to be mechanically sound at present.

The car is registered with Twende (Cliff Hunter). The Carnet currently has 1 (in date) page left. This will allow the car through Tanzania. I am assured that one is not needed for passage of RSA registered car through Mozambique. As I understand, Malawi/Botswana do not require one. I was told on entering Tanzania, that it is possible to transit an RSA reg car on a C36 form (therefore retaining the carnet left for passage through Zambia - depending on the drivers route).
