Nigeria visa in Niger

Hello, does anyone knows an another places except Niamey? I plan to be riding from Algeria via Agades, Tanout, Zinder. Is there a Nigeria consulate in these towns? Should I go to Niamey for obtaining a Nigeria visa? In this case I should make a big detour. And one more question. Is it possible to get a Cameroon visa in Abuja (Nigeria)?

To my knowledge, Niamey is the only place that has a Nigerian consulate in Niger. Bordercrashing is not possible (this was just after christmas 2007). Met an english couple who tried. They were politely, but firmly, refused entry.

Yes it is possible to get a Cameroon visa in Abuja (this was around new years 07/08). Incidently, Congo Brazaville has an embassy just 100 m down the same road as the Cameroon embassy.

Cameroon visa was normally a 3 day wait, but since we arrived just between christmas and new years, the ambassador was very forthcoming and sped up the process so we could get it the same day.

Congo Brazzaville has a normal 3 day wait too. But you can pay an express fee so you get it pretty much instantly. I don't think we were extended any favours. It seemed to be normal practice for this embassy.

I was going to post the GPS coords for the embassy, but just found out that my GPS is out of power. I can only recharge my GPS on my mount on my bike, which is currently in the shop for an overhaul. Just jump in a taxi and ask for either of the two embassies. That's what I did when I first needed to find them. I'll come back to this thread in a couple of days and post the coords if you need.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Torsten. If I understood right the only place to get the visa is Niamey. I have found a GPS point of Cameroon embsy in Abuja. But If you have a point of Congo embsy, it will be useful too.

Well, as I said, it's about 100m from the Cameroon embassy on the same road. It's a small ring-road about 500m long all together. It's kind of an enclosed area so you can't possibly miss it, if you have found the Cameroon embassy. There is a clear sign on a white wall that says Congo embassy. Ring the bell at the gate, and go through the motions.

Nigerian embassy

Haha. I remember looking for the Cameroon Embassy in Abuja in early 2007. I spent a day wasted. Everyone told me there was one, but not that it hadn't been built yet!

At least I managed to get my Angola visa in Abuja - that magical window of time before they ran out of stamps/told by Luanda to stop giving them out.

The functioning cameroon embassy is quite a bit away from where this picture is taken.

Hmmm...yes. Maybe I was mis-informed twice! In Africa too - totally unheard of before :eek3:

At least it meant that I went to Calabar for my Cameroon visa and spent a great few days at the Drill Ranch there. I also helped out with some construction work.
