Nairobi landy mechanics/parts
 

Can anybody give me a quick run down of the options for landy mechanics and (mostly genuine) parts places in Nairobi?

My Landy needs a good service, bushes replaced, valve clearances and oils, plus a complete exhaust system (200 tdi) etc.

Plus ideally will patch up rust damage and tree loving damage here if cheap enough. Need rear part of chassis replaced, front wing panels straightened etc etc. Bulkhead too ideally, but not rich enough I suspect....

Any thoughts on the various options? Pricing and quality of work?

Try Chris at Jungle Junction, Amboselie Rd. Lavington.
He seems to fix everything and has access to genuine parts.

Yip, thanks for JJ, if possible I'm trying to find different options, ideally somebody who doesn't charge European prices for simple work ;) But get somebody good to do the hard stuff etc.

Friends suggested Impala for parts, opposite Bush Rover, but also the official CMC place gave a healthy discount for cash etc

I have plenty of time to research and mix and match etc ;)

I used a place called Hi Ratio for LR spares, run by an Indian guy on baricho road (think it's on T4A) - it's in the main area for spares/workshops.
He carries some good stuff, mostly bearmach as well. (was able to get me a replacement rangie windscreen & rubber seal off the shelf) He doesn't do spanner work, but I'm sure he could recommend a competant mechanic for you.

Probably a bit late, but I found Roving Rovers in Nakuru (a bit away from Nairobi www.rovingrovers.com/index.htm) in 2006 and they have an excellent Landy mechanic (George, I think his name is) who sussed out the cause of my brake problem that I'd had for a few months. They were reasonably priced (back then) as their main focus was rentals. I found them because we stayed at Kembu campsite.
