Carnet de Passage - Senegal

I find this on the forum: "From 2006 Senegal is easing the requirement for a Carnet de Passage. It is only required at the North Border, and drivers usually get through without a Carnet by paying a variable amount between 80-100 Euro"
I want to enter Senegal from Mali with a 1994 Disco, i need the Carnet?

Cool

People had conflicting experiences, so I don't think it's possible to give a definite answer: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-douanes-37276

Hey there,

we entered Senegal with a 1991-car about 2 Weeks ago in Diama (from mauritania). The crossing wasnt really nice and it took us 2 hours, but in the end we paid 4 Euro. Its just matter of beeing willing to pay - the startingprice was 150 Euro.

As for your Question, i wouldnt bother with a carnet - at any boarder.
Oh, they give you 10 days in Senegal, but you can get 2x15 days more at any custom-office, once in senegal. And thats free

good luck

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
