Mautetania Visa in Bamako or Dakar?

Hi,

did anybody got recently a Mauritania Visa in Bamako or Dakar?

We may come into trouble. 1st time using a visa agency and they failed with Mauritania in time. We got all visas till Mali, Senegal we don't need. The flight is leaving Thursday and the question now is if we take off without Mauritania and get it on the road.

Regards
Bernd

coming from which direction?
where are you landing?
If in Bamako then get it there - much more relaxed, lovely country!

Hi,
we will enter Mali from Ivory coast by car. We head towards Morocco and than onto the Ferry to Italy.

Therefore Bamako or Senegal for the Mauri visa.

regards
Bernd

Get it in Bamako and stay at the sleeping camel The Sleeping Camel - Budget Accommodation in Bamako, Mali. There does not seem to be any other places (close) to camp.

The guys there can probably help you out with locating the Embassy and your visa. Not all the info out there is up to date and we struggled to find the right info on the embassy for Senegal.

Enjoy.

This might help.
You could also stay at the Hotel de l'Amitie if you want to splash out- safe supervised car park 24/7, cash point etc

or at Jean Baptiste's camps site (Kaira So) which also has rooms in bungalows

or stay at Jamilla
or with the Soeurs Blanches
and so many other places -
TIP! don't forget to visit the craft market, a stone's throw from l'Hotel de L'Amitie (where the taxi drivers wait and are a goldmine of info)

Senegal Embassy in Bamako last seen at:
341, Rue 287 & Avenue Nelson Mandela
BP 42 Bamako
Mali
+223 2021 8273
and +223 222 8274 but not the fastest guys off the block in answering the telephone though...

Are these actual facts or just a google search?

When we arrived in Bamako April this year the 3 campsites south of the River have gone under and the Sengal Embassy was not on Rue 287 (as you state and how everywhere else states) It is infact on the main road running west from the Sleeping Camel south of the river, its a 10min walk from there :thumbup1:

but that does not help the OP with Mauri, sorry.

These were facts when I was there about 2 years ago. Senegal OOD info removed- thanks-
If you were there more recently, then can you put up the GPS info up for the Senegalese Embassy?
I've marked where the Sleeping Camel is(N12.62559 W7.98789) so your 'ten minutes' cannot be far away.
Can you edit the new map to show where it is and post up GPS if possible?

cheers

PS I have just telephoned the Mauritanian Embassy in Brussels who confirm the above address is correct.
and they have given me the number of their embassy in Bamako +223 214815 - same as before so no change there.

I know roughly where it is but no GPS data im afraid. T4A now have that info as we were working indirectly for them at the time. I will look it up on Google Earth when in work tomorrow (keeps crashing here at home).

While im here with my MS open though It was camping Djabila to the south and camping la Cactus further south again that have closed down.

We did spend one night at the Hotel Kalibris which was good (N12.61269 W7.97526) this was before we found the Sleeping Camel.

Cheers Bertrand :thumbup1:

Edit: Just looked at google earth and the new Senegalese Embassy is at: 12°37'25.46"N
7°59'40.66"W

Hope this helps. The Brasilian and I think the Canadian embassy is now on this street also (further west) but I cannot remember fully for sure.
