Mauritania to Senegal crossing Visa cost for Australian

Hi Guys,

Im in Nouakchott and just at Embassy to sort out my visa and was asked for 70 Euro.
As far as I was aware it has been dropped as of the 1st May this year. Has anyone just turned up at border with out visa at border.
Im planning on riding to the border tomorrow and risking it.
Diama border will be the one ill try for.

Any help much appreciated.

Regards

Patrick

Being from the E.U. it may be different, but I crossed five days ago just turning up at the border. I'm pretty sure that you're correct in saying that the visa has been dropped for all countries as of May 1st. I've a post up here recently about the border crossings. No good reason to go to the infamous Rosso. Go to Diama and know that based on replies I've got here (it's worth looking at my recent posts here), the 20 euro on each side is apparently not legitimate if you're wiling to sit it out.

I've just crossed. Australians have not been cleared off the list at the border so I had a long wait. 5 to 6 hours. I was told to go back to Nouakchott but I insisted they call their boss in Dakar. I only paid 10 euro for the bridge and nothing more. They tried at both the police and customs on Mauritanian side but I just said no you only pay on entry. I also showed all my stamps from east Africa to insist I knew what I was talking about.
they gave in.
sitting back enjoying a beer at the zebrabar right now.

Thanks for the update Pat!

So in the end did they stamp a visa in your passport? Or just an entry stamp?

My understanding was that you get a 3 month visa on arrival as an Aussie/Kiwi/Norwegian (amongst other nationalities). If so is it multi entry?

Enjoy the cold beers at Zebrabar!

Hi Dave,

They just stamped me in. No visa. So have an entry stamp and guess just have to be out within that 3 months. I'm now hoping having this stamp will make the entry from Gambia easier as they will see the stamp from previous entry.

I'll let you know.

Patrick
