Maun: Safe parking for two nights?
Hey all,
quick question, as part of a three month trip through Africa, my wife and I will be spending a couple of nights in the Okavango Delta. As we're flying to the Delta, we need to leave our car somewhere in Maun. Can anyone recommend a safe parking place for two nights? The person I booked the Delta trip with said I could leave it at the airport, but that didn't entirely convince me, as there will be a lot of our gear in and on the car. Grateful for any suggestions. We left our 4x4 at Maun airport for 3 nights in 2009 and all was fine.

Are you camping in Maun before you fly to the delta? Audi Camp is popular with overlanders and seemed safe when I stayed there last year. They have plenty of space so I'm sure it would be fine to leave your wheels there if you're paying them for camping either side of your delta trip.

Sedia Hotel is closer to the airport, spacious and cheaper than Audi. Either will be fine.
The airport seems well guarded if you park within it. But guards are not paid a lot....

The big parking area(at the end of the road) at the airport is very secure. They lock the place up after hours.

Thanks for all your extremely quick and useful responses.
Thanks for vouching for the airport parking, might also check Audi camp, as that's where we're staying the night before and after the Delta trip. Either way, problem seems solved. Cheers Joost
