Mali visa in Rabat

How long does it take to get a Mali Visa in Rabat and when are they open or is it easer to get a visa at the mauritania/Mali border?

Not exactly what you're asking, but we got ours at the Senegalese/Malian border - and it was dead easy. Had to go into Kayes to get it ratified, but it was pure and simple.

If I recall correctly you can get a visa at the Mauritanian/Malian border too... but didn't go that way so perhaps a good idea for someone who has to respond! :)

Cheers
Steve

Awhile back but this might help.
1- yes, you can apply for a Malian Visa in Rabat (stone's throw from mauritanian Emb.)
2- If passport handed in at opening time (approx 9am), you can usually get it back early afternoon the next day
3- avoid handing in on Thursdays is possible as Friday is Prayer Day and they close midday so aim to arrive in Rabat latest Wed.
4- The visas at the border were transit visas- sometimes they issue them, somethimes they do not- It is a long way to go back to Rabat if you chance it and they say 'no'- If you get the transit one, you'll need to get it extended in Bamako.

Hope this answers your question. If you use the link in my sig, you'll find gps coords etc for the embassies.

Dave,

We got the Mali visa in Nouakchott. Arrive at 9am and collected it at 2pm same day. They gave a choice of single/multi, 1,2 or 3 month. It cost about 30euros for 1 month single, if I remember.

If you're going out eastwards on the "Road of Hope" towards Ayoun, don't forget to take at least 20 Fiche d'etat Cival's with you. It will save you a lot of time.

hee
last summer (august) it was really easy to get a visa at the border(mauritanie/mali(nioro)). it was 25 euro or 15000cfa. maybe that was a little bit too much but that was the price they were asking. it was at least a 15 days visa but i don't know how long they were valid exactly.
