Maili or Senegal solo ... or not?
 

I'm looking to head to either Senegal or Mali in late October from Ireland (probably via the UK). Currently going solo but would have a preference to travel with other(s). Anyone interested in talking about it?

BTW - I've never done a trip like this before

A friend of mine is running a hotel there . Then we ride throu Burkina Faso and Mali to Timbouctou.I want to do the same places as Michael Palin did in his video or dvd. I travelled several times in Morocco and have soft ware for the gps.

Well assuming you get a bike up and running again, I'd say Mali. The Senegal border isn't nice for a first timer! Mali is huge with amazing people and places, you'll have lots of riding to do. Senegal is beautiful too, just tainted by corruption (The Mali government have been cracking down). People in both countries are amazing though.

Me and my brother are leaving for Senegal/Mali next Wednesday from Portsmouth (ferry to Sandander). We've taken 4 weeks off to get to Senegal one way. You're most welcome to join us to ride together for parts of the trip.
