leaving morocco early oct 09 heading thru mauri mali bukina to togo etc do not want to rush back in early 2010 need idea where i could get longer visas to sit out rainy seasonor skirt round it coming back 2011 On motorcycle solo any ideas please

Extending your visa for a few months once you are already in the country is rarely that difficult, so my advice would be to find the country you like and then just keep extending.

By way of example for longer term visas, you can extend your Mauri visa up to a year. Cost was around 15,000 ougiya, although a year without nightlife and limited beer could be a struggle.

Alternatively if you want to be a bit further south, you can get a 9 month Ghana tourist visa with a minimum of fuss. Mine was issued in Bamako for 30,000 CFA
