Liberia + Cote d'Ivoire Security
 

Saw a documentary on Liberia by a guy called Shane Smith the other day which gave the impression that the whole place is one small step from all out war, though it did strike me that he was driving around in supposedly on the edge areas in a 4x4 with no security. Can anybody comment on security in these two countries. Are they generally fine, are there some regions to outright avoid or is the whole lot risky at any time?

Can't comment on Ivory Coast, but Liberia is very safe today, both in Monrovia and in the countryside.
