Least Worst Mali Route

Hi all,
We're looking to pin down the least worst route for Guinea to Burkina via southern Mali.
Any thoughts really appreciated.

Looking at Kankan - Bougouni - Sikasso
Or Kankan - Bamako - Sikasso

The first is obviously more southerly and shorter, but we have no idea about road conditions and so time scales.
The Bamako route is longer but maybe quicker??

Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated.

Happy travels

Bougoni - Sikasso - Koloko is normal gravel road. Been there 2010.
