Hi -- can anyone advise on the security situation lately between Isiolo and the Moyale border? Has anyone done the trip lately? Thanks!

Posting questions on the internet about the security situation in an area and then declaring exactly what dates you will leave from what city is pretty silly guys doh:thumb down:doh

Be much vaguer and email each other directly...

Can I get an update on this area from those who travelled? Also how often can I get fuel? How do u organise or join a convoy? Thanks

I tried to send a private message but don't have enough posts yet to do so. We will be going through there at some point in the next few weeks and will update when we do.

We did the road in the last week from north to south.
1. security was no problem. Ask for the actual situation at the border in Moyale or at the police station. They are all very helpful.
There was no convoy necessary.

2. Heading south get fueled in Ethiopa! In Kenia you will only get fuel out of bottles.
A range of 250km is enough. If you have less take a canister with you.

3. Take enough water with you!!!!!!

4. From Moyale to Marsabit the first 180km are gravel. The rest to Marsabit is black new tarmac.
From Marsabit to Isiolo the first 120km is gravel. The rest is tarmac.

Good luck, safe travel
Stefan
