shiping Belgium to Ghana ; paperwork

Hi,
When i want to ship my bike to Ghana what do i need to have/do for paperwork to get the bike in to Ghana ? and for mysel what do i need ?

I don't have an answer, but I have an indirect connection to a customs agent who would be able to help handle things....for a price, which would need to be negotiated. This would definitely take some time to set up (I contact my friend who contacts her friend, etc. etc. etc.), but let me know if you're interested and I'll set things in motion. I'm thinking of importing a bike permanently to Ghana, and if and when I do, this is the man I'll use. He can travel to any border or port and do whatever it takes (again, for a price).

I'm on the road and internet is intermittent, but I'll get to it if I hear from you.

Thanks for your response. Any help i can get is good. I also will send an email or telephone to the embassy off Ghana in Brussels. I let you know what there answord is . In the mean while let me know what you found about the paperwork.

Let me clarify, quickly (slow connection, unfamiliar keyboard): I´m not offering to look into anything. My situation is different, since I´m thinking of importing through an NGO. I´m offering to put you in touch with someone who you might hire to help you import a vehicle. My doing this will take time, and I won´t do it unless you decide you want to hire someone. Otherwise, it´s just a waste of time and my credibility.

i shipped 2 ktms to ghana in 2008. never would do it again, bueaucracy there is a pain. it took us about a week to get our bikes out of the port. + 3 days of figureing out how it works. the agent who helped us was AES-Shipping they are totally ok i can recommend them. Importing good to ghana is a nighmare in general i did meet a dutch guy who waited about 20days to get out his container. heared a lot of other crazy shipping storys from locals there too. michelle from ktm in togo later told us that togo is much easier. on land boarders we did not have any problems in ghana. we had a carnet and had to do a "temporary import" without that it would have been worse. the whole thing did create costs of about 700EUR in ghana only.

Thanks for your answer.
I heard a lot off stories about shipping and the paperwork. And i think i go overland. It won't be the same trip i think . I think i go throo Morocco, Mauritania, Mali ,Senegal and back. I'm considering to join Peter Buitelaar from Bikershome in ouarzazate. He wil join us (He wants to have 10 bikers ) with his 4 x 4 with our luggage and fuel and foods.
It is not the same adventure as i first was looking for but i'm sure that it will also be big fun. No shipping and paper problems in the port off Ghana. As i have only 1 month to travel i can miss paperproblems and lost days.

yeah, makes sense, but dont let paperwork kill your dream. beside of import in ghana the trip was a pice of cake. more hollyday than adventure. one thing is for sure: if you turn around in dakar you tun around where it starts getting real good.
