Wich brand, type and software is good for a transafrican trip via route morocco, mauritanie, mali, chaad, kameroen, congo and futher more.

Depends on how you are travelling! Bike or Car? Laptop or not! I have a Garmin Etrex Vista. Marvelous handy small and detailed info but unfortunately no usefull maps on Africa. There is not much original data about Africa but I use Ozi Explorer on my laptop as navigating software and the digitalised Russian Staf Maps (see www.daerr.de) which are good for Sahara crossing but not necessery for sub Sahara. There is a lot of hardware available but not to much digital maps on Africa unfortunately. There is some guy in Germany who converts satelite photo's into maps which can be used in a laptop but I don't know the details.
