I am in Bamako, Mali at the moment.

I got my Ghana visa for an extortionate 175 euro in Dakar - 3 month multiple entry. (75 Euro for visa, 100 to ambassadors pocket)

I can confirm the Ghana visa is possible to get in Bamako, a German cyclist woman at the same campground received her visa today, 3 month single entry for 30,000CFA (45 Euro).

It isn't seen as a guarantee, she said the explained how she had left Germany 6 months ago cycling and that was enough

Have also heard its currently available in Burkina Faso with a good excuse.

Burkina for easy Ghana visa.

Everywhere else either impossible or a major headache.

Ghana visa in Bamako, quite easy

We got the visa three month singe entry for CFA 30.000.
Very Friendly, next day pickup. Longer visa available, 6 month multiple would have been CFA 80.000 though.

They told us to get it back home. We said, we would love to, but are on the road since some months now an not going to return anytime. We wrote a one page letter to the counselor explaining this situation, the office guy helped us with it. They also asked for an invitation letter, which we had from Nana, a guy from Ghana that helped us with it for free.

Utmost politeness and decent clothing seems to be the key for success.

I was at the Ghana border post yesterday and talked with the Ghana head of immigration. He confirmed that yes, Ghana does in fact issue visa at the border. This is for anyone who has not been able to obtain it anywhere else and looking for a last resort. You can get a visa at the border for a pricey $150USD, one month single entry.

I would get it in Burkina though as mentioned above

Invitation Letter For Ghana

The contact details of Nana, who helped us with an invitation letter that was accepted by the Ghana embassy:

He is very helpful and knowledgeable especially about the Cape Coast region. Understandably he wants to help preferably travelers who intend to visit or work in their NGO.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
