Get small tires in Africa
 

Hello.

My husband and I have been driving our small car from Japan to Europe. It has taken 14 months, and we are heading to Africa from Autumn, 2016.

We are worried about getting tires for our small car. in Africa. It is 145/80 R12.

Anybody knows where we can get such a small tire? Any country is OK in Africa.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

A Daihatsu? Only cars I see listed for this tire are some very small Japanese and Korean.
I have never seen those vehicles in West or North Africa.
I suspect you will stay on paved road as much as possible, but best would be to put on new rubber before leaving Europe.
Put tubes in them! Makes it easier to repair and any michelin man can help you.
And bring a couple spares on the roof.
Are you going the long way round?

Sorry for late reply because I was not aware of your message.

Our car is Mazda Scrum the same as Suzuki Every. We are planning to drive in Africa for 1 or 2 years as far as we can go.

We are going to buy four spare tires in Spain. If we drive 30,000km, they will not work. We need more tires. It would be helpful if we know where we can get it in advance.

Microvan. You should be able to find tires in South Africa and probably East Africa.

In South Africa they are called Suzuki Carry.

We have researched it by “Suzuki Carry”, and were able to find a tire shop in South Africa!
