fuel ranges for east africa...

Hi
Looking at my new maps I got for christmas(!) and trying work out what the longest distance with out fuel is? It seems to be between Wadi Halfa and Dongola (shown as 248miles/400km) following the Nile. The map also shows another route running direct throught the desert from Wadi Halfa to Abtbara what is the distance between fuel on this route? What are these two roads like? Which is more popular? How many other places would extra fuel be needed to carried on a bike with a 250mile range (Max on good road) Including Namibia.
has anyone been in the area recently for how things are on the ground(Politically)
Thanks in advance George

fuel

"Don't forget to remember," fuel stations aren't the only place to buy fuel. Even small villages will have fuel available at some shops. Once, in Zambia, I was running low on fuel. I stopped at a rugged little bar and asked if anyone knew where I could buy fuel. A young man told me he did. He boogied into the village and returned with 10 liters of fuel. The fuel can was dirty, so I filtered the fuel through an old sock (this proved to be an octane booster!). Worked like a charm. So, if you're running low, just ask around.
