flight bamako - europe

does anyone know about airline or charter company offering cheap one way flights from bamako to europe?

Quintin 27 Oct 2005 00:19

Don't thnk there are any. A chum of mine resarched this in June/July 2004 and discovered that the cheapest way was on Air Maroc via, I think Casablanca then onto London. Others have gone via Mauri which is also cheaper than Air France-the only direct flights. The other option is to contact Pointe Afrique who have flights from/to Marseilles but from memory these go to/from Mopti rather than BKO. I'm sure if you 'google' Pointe Afrique you'll find their web site.

Hope this is useful.

hi quentin,

I've used Pointe Afrique from Paris to Bamako and return in the past. No problems apart from a late departure (several hours waiting for the plane to arrive at Paris). I'd use them again.

If booking from the UK I recommend doing it well in advance as it takes time for the confirmation and voucher to arrive in the post.

Are you sure you can't book one way only?

I've also used Air France which was more expensive but not too bad. You may be able to get a cheap deal from them.

A further option to consider is to get a flight from Bamako to Banjul or Dakar and then fly back to Europe with one of the British or German (from Banjul) or French (from Dakar) charter companies.

think another cheap option from bamako is to go with afriqiyah via tripoli

not very direct, but worth it for the opportunity to spend time in Addis Ababa - Ethiopian Airlines. you even get to touch and go in Ndjamena!

I booked a (two-way) flight from a travel agency in Bamako itself. They also offered one-way. Can't remember who I flew with, but it went through Casablanca. So must have been Air Maroc. Booking was really easy, except they only accepted cash payment.

Go Voyages (mentioned above) rings a bell, but I can't say 100% they were the agency.

Air Maroc were cheapest at the time (a year ago).
