Ferry Cabinda-Luanda
 

Hello,
any idea about schedule of the ferry Cabinda-Luanda,if is a weekly/monthly service and run all over year or only in the dry-season?

I dont know if there is a ferry to Luanda from Cabinda, but for sure there is one to Soyo.

This ferry takes about six hours and as far as I remember (we travelled in 02/2005 coming from Soyo) it goes daily.

You wont be able to put a car on it, motorcycles only.

Soyo to Luanda the road is not easy in the wet season, but also no drama with an enduro.

If I remember correct the price was around 80 usd for two bike and two riders. He asked first for 120 usd but after talking to head of the company, 80 usd was ok, maybe because I had a broken leg in a plaster.

We caught the ferry from Cabinda to Luanda in Jan 2005. I can't remember how often it ran but I seem to have either weekly or bi-weekly in my head. I don't know if this changes from season to season. The ferry is really new and modern and they are very proud of it. Go down to the docks and ask about for where the agents are to get your tickets. I think we paid about $180 for each person (bike included) and we had to negotiate for this price. It was was about 14hrs trip I think and left at about 3pm. They docked the ferry in Cabinda so that the onboard crane was on the wrong side and could not reach our bikes so there were some hair raising moments while they tried to get the bike on the boat by hand so that is was close enoguh for the crane...it was the one time on the trip that I completely lost my cool because I though my bike was going to end up in the sea!
