Etosha - Take Your Bike Through the Park!

Guys,

As anyone wanting to visit the Etosha Pans would know - you can't take your bike through the park.

So, until now, you were forced to leave it at one of the gates - and then, instead of conveniently travelling through the park from East to West or vice versa -- you had to TURN BACK on yourself, to go an pick the bikes up... and then CIRCUMVENT the park, to continue your journey.

NOT ANYMORE!!!

BRILLIANT NEWS!!!

On our recent trip, we managed to make a local contact who works in the Etosha, who, for a small fee, would transport your bikes THROUGH THE PARK - to any gate you like! He can take two bikes at a time on the back of a pickup truck.

He works for the Parks Council, so I can't post his details here -- but if you need this favour, just get in touch and I will pass his details over.

Reminds me of when we were trying to enter Kruger National Park in South Africa, and they told us at the gate, that we dont want to be MEALS ON WHEELS....!!

Later on I did enter some big game park in Botswana (Chobe maybe? cant remember as this was in 2001) and I was made to sign a paper which basically states that if something happens, it wont be the park rangers fault. It was only a straight road, 60kms thru the park,.. wouldnt have ridden through any other time but by noon, when there are no animals in sight, because of heat.
