ethiopian visa in harare
 

hi all,
just to let you know, we've got our ethiopian visas sorted out within 6 hrs at the embassy in harare. the secretary would send us away as we're not zimbabwean citizens but we said we're having a letter for the consul and it worked. she let us in and we could talk to the consul in person. we tried to explain our situation first but she was not impressed at all. also the printout from ethiopian mfa-website was not interesting to her.
well prepared we produced a letter of recommendation from a german embassy in addis and THIS WORKED immediately!
normally it takes 24hrs and costs 20$ for a 1 month tourist visa but we were lucky and could pick it up same day in the afternoon.

This is very helpful. I am planning on getting my letter from the embassy or consulate in Cape Town before heading north. I have a template of a letter that has worked for someone else.
