Maybe a silly question but, doues anyone know if you can travel from Asmara into Ethiopia? Are the borders open?

Landmines - Border Issues - Permits
Landmines are a major problem, particularly in border regions with Ethiopia and the areas west, south and southeast of Barentu. Avoid travel along the Agordat-Hawashayt road and north of Afabet.

The border with Ethiopia is permanently closed, and passage between the countries is not possible, while the border with Sudan is closed intermittently and has been subject to bomb attacks.

Government permits are required by anyone wishing to travel outside Asmara. This can cause delays to travel plans and assistance.

borders

It will be now generally unpossible ewen via other countries.
Eritrea to Ethiopia border is closed.
Normaly you can go from E to E via Sudan or via Djibouti, but not now.
Sudan to Eritrea border is now closed
In Eritrea NOW they do not issue travel permits to assab that is on the way to Djibouti.
So generally exept to fle via third country I do not think that now is chance how to do it.
Or better say - its likely still possible to go Ethiopia - Djibouti - Eritrea, but not back.
