Entry stamp missing because of stolen passport

Hi all!

Listen to this:

1. We entered in SouthAfrica in 04/08 and got a 3month tourist visa (EU citizens).
2. Our passports have been stolen in 22/09.
3. We need 3 months to get new passports.
4. When we will get our new passports, obviously we will miss the initial entry stamp.
5. If we apply for an extension, we need 1000 ZAR (or 100 euro).
6. Because we do not want to pay the money for the visa extension (that takes so long and maybe it will not be issued when we will leave from SA), is it possible to leave from SA heading to Namibia without paying anything because we stayed longer than the initial stamps of 22/09??

We would be grateful if anyone has any idea!

Cheers.

Got travel insurance?

My policy reads (verbatim):

"Replacement of Passport - reasonable additional travel and
accommodation expenses necessarily incurred outside Your
Home Area to obtain a replacement of Your lost or stolen
passport or visa which has been lost or stolen outside Your
Home Area."

Best of luck

Keith

When my passport was stolen in Guatemala and the new one was issued (in alot less than 3 months too) I took the new passport and the police report of the theft to the immigration office for a new entry stamp. No cost.

I don't understand why you would had to wait three months for a passport, I believe there is a greek consulate in Pretoria. The Dutch embassy issued a new passport to us in a day when ours was stolen.

good luck, Andre

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
