East or West Coast

Hi All, especially who crossed the Africa from top to bottom.

I am planning a RTW and wanna hear your experiances about routing. I have two route for Africa.
One is:
Entering to the Africa from Middle East (Egypt) crossing the north coast (Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco) and then follow the WEST coast down to Cape Town (S.Africa)
Second route is:
Entering to the Africa from Morocco by crossing the Strait of Gibraltar and then follow the north coast again (Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco) and then follow the EAST coast down to Cape Town (S.Africa).

I dont want to do lots of off-roads, wanna an easy ride and wanna see as many places as I can with local people, culture, etc..

Could you please share your experiances and advices with me?

east vs West

I did east coast and its amazing. including uganda inland. As far as roads go...well you have the sahara desert to deal with. Once through there, pretty much most of east africa is do-able. although the roads are in shocking condition in some parts.
But then again most of Africa is.

As far meeting the most cultures. i would suggest West africa then as you will most likely travel through more countries. Again i would suggest reading past trips from www.africa-overland.net a wealth of ideas and knowledge

Good luck and many miles
